Ministerial Visit

16th Oct 2025
It was a very special day in Scoil Cholmcille last Friday as we were honoured to welcome Minister for Education, Helen McEntee. The Minister was with us to celebrate some very special events.

After speaking to our pupils, Minister McEntee was on hand to raise our 7th Green Flag for Global Citizenship and Energy. Our wonderful Coiste Glas, led by Clara and Ella showcased all the committee's work over the year. Our 4th Class also performed their song 'Save Energy'. Well done to the whole school and staff on this great achievement and especially to Ms. Girard and the Coiste Glas.

On a more poignant note, Minister McEntee also cut the ribbon for the official opening of our sensory room 'Cúinne Catherine' named in honour of our late Chairperson to the Board of Management, Catherine Hanley. Catherine was a pillar in Scoil Cholmcille for decades through her various contributions as a parent, grandparent, member of the Parents' association, church sacristan and most recently as Chairperson to the BoM. It was lovely to welcome Catherine's family to the school for this special occasion and they had collaborated with our pupils to come up with the name 'Cúinne Catherine'. We envisage this room as a place of solace, comfort and happiness for all of our pupils - a fitting tribute to Catherine.
